How to relate to thoughts during meditation?
Thoughts come from the intellect and not from the emotional body; even though thoughts and emotions affect each other. Lord Buddha taught that unwholesome thoughts should not be tolerated but replaced with wholesome thoughts. Rational thinking and conceptual understanding of the Dhamma are used to adjust our thinking.
People experience both emotions and thoughts, and in general, people tend to suppress their emotions because they are difficult to regulate and permit just intellectual states of mind. Therefore, people may try to get in touch with their emotional body and not hide behind their intellect.
